Do you have a Blue Shield of California Individual or Family Health Insurance Plan?
Did you meet your out-of-network deductible in 2019, 2020, or 2021?
If so, the Blue Shield class action lawsuit alleges that you overpaid for your deductible. Call Us now
When you signed up with Blue Shield of California for health insurance, you likely received a policy that stated all amounts paid for covered services would be applied to the deductible. (As a reminder, the deductible is the amount of money you pay for health care services before your Blue Shield plan starts paying.) You probably had deductibles for both “in-network” and “out-of-network” providers.
The class action lawsuit alleges that Blue Shield of California wrongfully miscalculated the amount a member must pay to meet his or her out-of-network deductible. Plaintiff’s policy states that all amounts paid for covered services would be applied to the deductible. However, Blue Shield only reimbursed our plaintiff for Blue Shield’s allowable amount. This means that plaintiff overpaid the out-of-network deductible.
