• Santa Barbara Midwifery and Birth Center is offering free belly checks and postpartum care to evacuees in the Santa Barbara area.

• Tax relief for those whose property has been damaged or destroyed. Form ADS-820 must be filed with the Assessor’s Office within 12 months from the date of the damage or destruction. (The loss must exceed $10,000 of current market value).
• Proposition 19 Disaster Relief Transfer of Base Value for those whose property is substantially damaged or destroyed by a Governor-declared disaster. Proposition 19 provides a property tax base to be transferred to a comparable property within the same county or another California County.

FEMA advises those who have homeowner’s insurance to file a claim as quickly as possible. FEMA assistance is available to help those who are uninsured or underinsured. There are different ways to apply:

• Online at disasterassistance.gov or in Spanish language at DisasterAssistance.gov/es.
• Call the FEMA Helpline at 1-800-621-3362 for assistance in multiple languages.
• Use the FEMA App for mobile devices.
• FEMA federal “sister” assistance is available for individuals and business owners. You can call 1-800-621-3362, use the FEMA app, or register online.

FEMA assistance is a process; after applying,, you will receive a letter by mail or email, which can also be found on the DisasterAssistance.gov account, explaining whether you are eligible and how much assistance you will receive.
